Janet Peck has a background in the Creative Industries and the Corporate World as an Art Director. After having a family and completing a BAHons in Writing & Publishing with EnglishLanguage & Literature , then relocating to Edinburgh, she put professional Design on hold to start a new more compatible career to balance the demands of family life. Janet worked as a Lecturer in Edinburgh’s Telford Further Ed College teaching courses in IT Journalism, English & communications on the HND Core Skills and Creative writing. She particularly loved teaching the Art & Design students! After a few years Janet found her niche, in Adult and Community Education and settled as a Learning advisor and Health & Literacy tutor working within the NHS community, teaching her own classes and flexible integrated programmes. She also enjoyed teaching at the WEA. Art was never far away in Janet’s thoughts and living in such a creative City such as Edinburgh Janet took advantage of the amazing Adult Education Botanical Art Classes at The Royal Edinburgh Botanical Gardens, which were incredibly inspiring. Every weekend she visited too, drawing. She also did a variety of Printmaking Workshops. For the last 10 years Janet has settled with Storm, her Border collie and Scottish husband in a Victorian cottage in a North Beds village. She creates animal portraits in watercolours, delicate florals, directly drawn from her beautiful pollinator friendly garden or countryside flowers and early in the morning sketches and walks in the fields and villages writing notes, creating poetry for her blog and writing and photos for her popular Instagram posts. She loves to do printmaking outside in the garden or inside her Studio situated in her wildlife friendly cottage garden created by her husband. Janet likes to resuse materials as much as possible in printmaking ; therefore the method of collagraphy and dry point etching are her preferred processes. Janet explores natural inks, makes charcoals and uses flower essence paint. She is a member of the Bedford Art Society, where she enjoys painting outside in the summer with the group She also a member of the SAA, St. Neots Art Club where she exhibits and Association of Animal Artists.
