And now I am also selling on Red Bubble!
20 years ago I studied for a degree in 2D design. While studying for my degree I discovered printmaking, particularly Lino, collagraph and mono printing. And I loved it! Sadly after my degree I settled into a retail career and didn’t find much opportunity to print or use my printmaking skills.
Fast forward to 2020 and UK Lockdown 1 and I was put on furlough. For the first time in 20 years I had a lot of time on my hands! I began to revisit my love of art. I started with the 100 day project which encouraged me to explore different themes and materials. Through this project I began to use Instagram more and started connecting with old friends and other artists on there. This led me to discover gelli printing!
Even once back at work I found myself finding time to gelli print. I love how quick and free the process is! Ive really enjoyed using leaves, stencils and found objects in my work. More recently I’ve began to combine gelli printing with my love of Lino printing and collage too!
My inspiration comes from what I see whilst out running and walking in my local area. I struggle to leave the house these days without coming home with something to print with- a leaf or a plant to press!
In Jan 2021 I opened an Etsy shop after much encouragement from family and friends who felt my work was good enough to sell. I hope you enjoy viewing my work.
