My interest in textiles and mixed media art developed partly as a result of coming from a family of makers and designers. Always keen to be creative, my first career was as an English teacher, but a City and Guilds in Design and Embroidery gave me the opportunity to explore a completely new world.
My work generally involves the use of mono printing, onto both cloth and a variety of papers. I like to overlay materials, giving a glimpse of lines, or marks, beneath the surface. These surfaces are then stitched into, most often by hand.
I have exhibited in several exhibitions with the textile artists group ‘Work in Progress’ with whom I have collaborated for over ten years. I am looking forward to exhibiting with HVA in the future.
