I am a fine art printmaker at the Forge Print Studio in Digswell near Welwyn, Hertfordshire.
I came to printmaking after retiring and studied traditional fine art print methods at the University of Hertfordshire and the Curwen Print Study Centre.

Artist’s Statement
I enjoy the inherent beauty of handcrafted prints. Printmaking is to an extent a stochastic process and possesses an inherent randomness. The same set of starting values and initial conditions can lead to a collection of different outputs. The printmaking process is as much a part of the resulting image as the subject itself. The process is a critical and essential part of the resulting image as much or more than the image subject itself. An artist can choose any subject but how they manipulate or alter that subject image is their art.
I prefer to work in series of images and I choose a printmaking method which compliments or draws out the importance of the series being worked on. I am currently working on a series of images for an exhibition titled “In Our Garden” to be held in 2020 at the New Maynard Gallery, Welwyn Garden City celebrating the founding of the City. As the exhibition combines Welwyn and Gardens the images I am starting from are a series of photographs taken around the City. I am using the technique of ‘Photopolymer Gravure’ to create clearly identifiable images of locations and objects in the City. I endeavour to reveal the challenge in otherwise ordinary things and places.
