I am inspired by the world around me, by reality, and by the imagery and designs that dominate our modern world. Particularly drawn to landscapes, cityscapes, places and events, and also finding myself attracted by the colour of an object, the pattern of a fabric, or the detail of a surface.

In creating my paintings, I begin with sketches, notes and images, to compose a visual journal of an experience, time or place. Key features of the drawing are enhanced with shapes and colour, building up layers of oil paint with brushes and palette knife.
