Lorraine creates abstract paintings in acrylic and mixed media, referencing the landscape and natural environment. She was born in London, and discovered her love for the landscape during her years as a young student in the West Country. She took up art at a later stage, and studied sculpture for 9years before completing a Fine Art degree, before turning to painting full-time.
Lorraine's paintings often incorporate a physical or illusory three-dimensional aspect. Her style has become increasingly abstract, in order that a looser visual description affords a broader interpretation and a greater sense of visual journey, slowing down the experience and allowing the viewer to explore and connect with the artwork on a deeper, more personal level.
Lorraine is inspired by experimenting with new media and technique. The main subject matter focuses on the landscape, which is informed by her scientific and musical background, and often references rhythm, form and intervals.
