Anneli is a painter, specialised in mixed media 'paper collage' art in a contemporary, (semi)-abstract and modern style.
She was born in Finland and came to England in 1970 and since then has made her family home in Hertfordshire, where she also studied, gaining B.A.Hons in Art and Design.
For her collage medium, Anneli prepares assorted papers to which she applies colour using mainly acrylic paints. These provide the palette for making of her pictures. They are composed by the layering of her observations, memories, thoughts, imagination and dreams.
Paintings mounted on cards are suitable for framing in many frame styles.
Works on raised panels have protective varnish finish and have the appearance and structure of paintings on canvas and do not require framing.
The aesthetic act of pasting papers on the surface has been practiced in various folk art for centuries. Collage as fine art medium, however, first emerged with some acclaimed painters in the early 20th century.
Anneli creates exciting, personal images, but also encourages the viewer to visualise their own interpretation.
Since 1993 Anneli's work has been commissioned and sold to private collections nationally and internationally and a number of commercial organizations, including Wessex Water, Nokia, KPMG, Microsoft, Ramada Hotel Group, Center Parcs and Wetherspoon pub/restaurant, have purchased and hired her work.
