I make stoneware ceramics, wheel-thrown and often altered resulting in decorative shapes, glazed with bespoke glazes, slips and engobes. I love throwing stoneware clay on the potters-wheel. My inspiration comes from the shapes, colours and details seen in nature. I am altering and shaping my thrown pieces to create natural forms. High firing temperatures ensure the decorative works can be outdoors even in winter, in gardens as well as on terraces or balconies, adding all year-round interest and colour to your outdoor space. The ongoing exploration and experimentation into developing glazes and decoration techniques is driving my work. My latest projects explore the possibilities of decorating hand-built rectangular vases and ceramic wall-plaques with textures, coloured slips, engobes (specialist glaze) adding details in ceramic ink, ceramic pencils and wax crayons, resulting in geometric patterns as well as representing abstract landscapes.
