Angela Paola Rossi has recently curated and featured in an exhibition 'Natures Medicine' at The Open Door Berkhamsted. She is currently the artist-in-residence at The Open Door.
Angela Paola Rossi is an artist interested in places and spaces which are overlooked.
Her artworks have a distinctive, restrained method of construction, partly informed by her architectural training. There is a connection between the artworks she made as a child and what she does now, since both site and play inform the chance elements in her practice.
Observations on the site have been identified and documented and a corresponding task or move has been executed on the artworks. This has been achieved by using a site-responsive mark-making checklist, mapped on a flowchart and spreadsheet. This site-responsive approach to artwork integrates the subject of the site with expressivity. This moment is therefore contextualised, and brings unknown quantities, challenges and riches to the practice.
The site she is investigating currently are the woods near to where she lives; she recently discovered these woods during her lockdown exercise loops.
Angela Paola Rossi was born in Glasgow. She gained a bachelor degree in architectural studies at the Glasgow Mackintosh School of Art. She further studied for the diploma in architecture with computing studies at the University of East London. She has recently completed an MA in Fine Art at Middlesex University (1st Class). She has always produced paintings and related artwork.
