Charlotte Gardner

After completing a BTEC Foundation Course in Art and Design at the University of Hertfordshire from 1994 to 1995, I studied Theatre Studies and Design at Central School of Speech and Drama from 1995 to 1998. For over a decade I was professionally involved in the theatre and film world as a performer, as well as working front of house and box office. Around 2010 I began falling back in love with drawing and painting so dabbled here and there. I painted a couple of murals for friends, one was for a child’s bedroom where I painted animals and woodland and another was a commission in a restaurant. I also designed cards for family and friends at Christmas. After losing my theatre job in 2020 due to the pandemic, and was forced to quit another job in 2022 due to poor mental health, I finally decided to pursue art full time. I felt that working freelance would be better for my mental health. Recently I was diagnosed with ADHD, so my journey may be a slow one but I know it will be fulfilling. There is so much I want to explore, and a lot I still need to learn and I look forward to seeing where this all takes me.
