Collective 25 invites you to celebrate the trees of St Albans through a series of art activities and workshops focused on closer observation and appreciation of the magnificent tree heritage in the city and surrounding areas. From Thursday 5 February to Sunday 8 February 2026 the
Collective Gallery will host workshops and collaborative art activities to create a visual celebration of our beautiful trees.
Artists, Judith Fear and Jess Distill will lead activities in which you can participate, to create the following collaborative works: • A photo montage of your favourite trees in St Albans
• A frieze of the stunning winter silhouettes of trees in the Abbey Orchard and other locations (charcoal sketches and tetra pack prints)
• An illuminated screen of bark rubbings from a range of local trees • M SS NG TREES – a photographic display re-imagining views in St Albans without the key trees that lend their grace and beauty to the urban environment

The Workshops – There will be 2 workshops daily (Thursday – Saturday):
• 13:00 – 14:30 Tetra pack printing inspired by the trees. Led by Jess Distill.
• 13:30 – 15:00 Charcoal sketching of tree silhouettes. Led by Judith Fear. There is a maximum number of 6 people for each of the workshops. The activities will be running simultaneously part of the time and subject to numbers, you may be able to do some mix and match.
