My earlier working life often encompassed a creative element; in fine art publishing, advertising and interior design & decoration, (during which time I also decorated many a child's room with murals, as was the fashion), but I am essentially self-taught as a painter of canvases.
Over the last few years I have exhibited at many galleries and exhibitions throughout Herts and Beds and with HVAF at Open Studios events. I now work in my garden studio in St Albans on a wide variety of colourful subjects inspired by just about anything and everything that fires my imagination, working mainly with acrylic paint and inks, as they are so versatile.
My paintings vary from figurative through to abstract, depending on my mood - but I'm constantly experimenting with different ideas in the hope of bringing a fresh approach to each subject I tackle. Sometimes I work from real life and sometimes from inspirational photographs, but increasingly from ideas that are shaped by my travels, feelings and general life experiences.
