EXPLORE new ways of working this Autumn with a series of innovative workshops across the county.

Specialist classes at Albion Arts include making original jewellery out of old biscuit tins, or creating a still life using foam, cling film and tissue. Phil Madley has announced new dates for Encaustic Wax painting classes, and for the more traditional craft experience there's an introduction to weaving and basketry at Triangle Garden.

Joanna Mason, HVAF member and proprietor of Albion Arts has announced a programme of unusual classes and workshops likely to appeal to the experimental or adventurous artist.

Many of the tutors for Albion's workshops near Harpenden are HVAF members too, including and Lupe Cunha and Vitreus Art.

Biscuit Tin Jewellery. Recycle your old biscuit tins and turn them into original and funky jewellery. 10 October: 10am - 4pm.

Mixed Media Jewellery. Imaginative ideas to make jewellery using a combination of materials. 11 October: 10am - 4pm.

THE TRASH FACTORY: Junk Jewellery Day. The recycling workshop for the weird and wonderful. 18 October: 10am - 4pm.

Figure Workshop: Life Drawing Day. An intensive life drawing class that will be fast-moving, challenging and fun. The focus will be on form, proportion and the dynamic energy of the figure. 24 October: 10am - 4pm.

Experimenting with Still Life. Using tissue, Hessian, foam and cling film to create a modern still life. 25 October: 10am - 4pm.

Textile Jewellery Workshop. Use felt, pelmet Vilene and machine embroidery to create beautiful and original jewellery. 31 October: 10am - 4pm.

Image Transfer Workshop. A range of techniques to incorporate unique images into textiles. 1 November: 10am - 4pm.

Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop. Model in metal clay to produce pieces of jewellery in silver. 14 November: 10am - 4pm.

Introduction to Stained Glass. Learn the basics in one day, Techniques for preparing glass, hand foiling and soldering to produce a simple stained glass design. 15 November: 10am - 5pm.

A NEW initiative by the Triangle Community Garden sees the launch of craft workshops this Autumn, with opportunities for HVAF members to run their own classes.

Weaving for Pleasure. Weaver and artist Lisa Tilley introduces weaving with a variety of materials, yarns and wool. Sat 31 October: 10am - 3pm.

Hedgerow Basketry. Learn step by step from basket maker Joanna Hammond how to create your own coracle basket. Sat 28 November: 10am - 3pm.

Beginners Pottery, a 14-week course, starts 16 September. Taster session Glass Fusing runs on 25 September. There are spaces remaining on the Resin and Silver Weekend, an introduction to cold enamelling techniques using silver findings and moulds, on 19 and 20 September. Precious metal clay runs on 27 September.
