A few References for Identity

Work by Fiona Scheibl
Venue: Courtyard Arts
Port Vale, Hertford
15 - 26 September

Fiona Scheibl writes

I NORMALLY paint withered petals, over-exposed machinery and manic or sleeping dogs but, in this first solo show at Courtyard, I return to one of the traditional subjects of the old masters - the self portrait.

Exhibitions

COMING up this Autumn, contemporary art collective INSIDEout will be showing Elements at Artshed, an exhibition based on earth, air, fire and water.

Opportunities

WHAT is contemporary art practice? Find out in a lecture series at the University of Hertfordshire. Places are free but limited, so book early. Also, Margaret Harvey Gallery is inviting applications for its annual Open Exhibition, plus more opportunities for exhibiting and details of funding...

Workshops

EXPLORE new ways of working this Autumn with a series of innovative workshops across the county.

Specialist classes at Albion Arts include making original jewellery out of old biscuit tins, or creating a still life using foam, cling film and tissue. Phil Madley has announced new dates for Encaustic Wax painting classes, and for the more traditional craft experience there's an introduction to weaving and basketry at Triangle Garden.
