'MEMORIES OF THE LANDSCAPE'
A solo exhibition of paintings by Raina Goran 1–31 October 2016, at The Radlett Centre, 1 Aldenham Avenue, Radlett Herts WD7 8HL Open 10-4pm Mon-Sat.
Raina’s paintings are based on landscapes she has visited which are recreated in her studio from photos and memories. She is interested in colour and exploring gestural brush marks to create design, energy and movement in her semi abstract style paintings.
Her earlier training as an illustrator and work in the greeting card industry has influenced her style as she says, “designing pictures is in my soul.” Raina paints in Oil, Acrylic or watercolour .She often starts with a watercolour study and then paints a scaled up version once she is happy with the composition and colour balance.
ARTS MEANS BUSINESS
HVA Member Connie Flynn is one of four artists selected for the Arts Means Business project, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the creation of fibre optics in Harlow. The project involved an Artist Residency in a local business, leading to a final outcome commission. During the residency Connie researched and gathered information to use as inspiration for her work.

While Kim Haskins, who has previously exhibited her jam paintings, will be showing her quirky and characterful cat paintings she has become well known for. The show will run from the 1 Sept - 8 Oct 2016.
'ESCAPE FROM MY STOREROOM', 5-29 OCTOBER 2016
Artist Petra Geggie has raided her storeroom in order to show paintings that have not been exhibited before. The paintings may have missed out on previous exhibitions due to lack of hanging space or they don’t fit the theme or even that they are just more recent.
Each of her works shows a history as it develops from inspiration through to conclusion. The journey of this process leaves its trail in the use of materials and processes of each work. It also allows you to glimpse ideas, places and objects along the route that are often eclipsed in the final total vision. Varying levels of abstraction speak to the senses through strong use of form and colour and the texture of the paint itself.
It is her third showing at the Apthorp Gallery, The Radlett Centre, Radlett WD7 8HL which provides a comfortable space to contemplate and enjoy this group of colourful and interesting paintings. Open Mon-Sat 10am-4pm See full article
