HVA Exhibition at Harpenden Public Halls
What a splendid start to the Open Studios Season. At the Exhibition at Harpenden Public Halls over 70 artists took part with a huge variety of work on display. "Thank you for organising the Harpenden Halls Exhibition, it definitely brought several people over to our Open Studios at Artscape and I sold a second painting to a couple who bought one at Harpenden Halls. I thought the exhibition looked wonderful and was worth all the hard work. Hopefully others are also seeing positive results from it !" SUE WOOKEY
"We don't get many chances to exhibit together as a Forum, so I am really glad that I supported the Harpenden Public Halls Exhibition. The Artworks had plenty of space to breathe and the publicity seemed extensive. It was a great added bonus to have sold three pictures." SARAH HOW
“A thoroughly enjoyable weekend, with lots of interest in my work, which has already resulted in a visitor to my open studios who is considering using my textiles in an interior design project.” LINDA GIFFORD
"I think the overall look of the exhibition was excellent, with the space being used well and showing a very high standard of work displayed. I would recommend repeating it as a showcase for the Open Studios and HVA. Repeat annual exhibitions, if they are good, attract an increasing audience as word goes round that they are worth seeing." PETER J BROWN
"I really enjoyed the exhibition - it was lovely to see such a variety of skills and talent on show. Having the crafts for sale in the other room was a great idea as it gave some life to, what was otherwise, a static event and it also gave people the opportunity to chat with some of the artists. Of course, the best part of it for me was that I sold a piece of my work and have been asked to quote for some more as a result." CAROLINE DAVIS
"The Harpenden Halls exhibition was my first public event. Several people came to our Open Studios having bought jewellery from me at the exhibition. It was also lovely to meet other artists and see such diverse talents." KATIE TANT
“Herts Visual Arts comes up trumps again. The young daughter of one visiting family was so inspired that she drew herself to sleep that night. The exhibition was also a reunion for me. A school friend (that I’ve not seen since the 70s) made the journey from Aylesbury on the strength of Facebook marketing, buying early Christmas presents in the craft hall. A huge thank-you also from the World Challenge boys for letting them help out and run what turned out to be a very popular tea shop. They’re a step closer to their expedition target now thanks to you.“ HILLARY TAYLOR
"The Harpenden Halls Exhibition was an interesting new venture by Herts Visual Arts to act as a 'curtain-raiser' for Herts Open Studios. The exhibition really showcased some of the variety, scale and scope of HVA members in an environment which showed off the work well, both the large scale and smaller works. And it has been effective in a number of ways: to encourage Open Studios visits, to generate sales for the artists paricipating at the show, and interestingly, to stimulate further sales from follow-up visits. HVA is about providing opportunities for Hertfordshire artists, and opportunities for the public to appreciate their artists and this was a good example of that working." MEL HILBROWN, Chairman HVA
