HVA Exhibition at Bishops Stortford College, Equine Art Exhibition, Studios Space, Photography & Painting Workshops, Handspinning Classes ...... and more ...

Herts Visual Arts Members have been invited by Richard Honey, Head of Art at Bishop’s Stortford College, to showcase their work in the Art Department Gallery space during the Spring Term of 2012.  "To have the work of practising artists on display in the Department gives the pupils (and the teachers) ideas and inspiration for their own work whilst offering the artists the chance to showcase their creations to both the pupils and parents of Bishops Stortford College and the general public as well"

In addition to the Gallery space, the spacious £15.m purpose built facility at Bishop’s Stortford College (which opened in September 2009) houses several large studios, including a sculpture studio, workshop, IT suite, dedicated 6th Form studio as well as a well resourced departmental library.  Facilities that allow pupils to become involved in painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, glass, graphic design, photography, fashion, animation, computer generated imagery and film making.

A variety of works will be selected for the exhibition which will be open to pupils and member of the public following the private view on Friday 13th January and run to Friday 30th March.  In previous years Art exhibitions held in the department have been well received with sales in the region of £8,000-£10,000.

A hanging fee of £5 per item covers the cost of the private view, and HVA admin.  10% commission on sales will be taken which will go towards the college’s art trip fund.  In 2011 6th Form students visited New York.

So to participate:
Email 3 images of wall mounted or sculptural items, or up to 10 smaller items that might be displayed on a cabinet shelf (eg jewellery / textiles / small ceramics) to richard.honey@bishopsstortfordcollege.org and openstudios@hvaf.org.uk by 30 November 2011.  The college will endeavour to select at least one piece of work from each applicant.
To assist with the admin when emailing please enter HVA Exhibition (Your Name) in the subject line.  And in the body of the email the following details for each item:
Medium (for sculptural work also detail whether indoor or outdoor display)

Richard/HVA will make contact with successful applicants no later than Monday 19th December and attach an application form for completion which should be returned to HVA with a cheque.
HVA will collate a list of items/participants and circulate to the members concerned to facilitate sharing drop off and collection arrangements.

Items are to be taken to Bishops Stortford College on Tuesday 10th January 2012 between 9am and 5pm.  A private view is scheduled for Friday 13th January.  Members will be invited to the private view and will receive an email invitation for forwarding to guests.

Exhibition closes on Friday 30th March.  Unsold items to be collected Monday 2nd April 2012.

The 2011 exhibition featured work by HVA members John Spielman, Barbara Weeks and Mike Cliff.
