Four of our art groups are demonstrating at Living Crafts in the HVA tent this year...

Thursday 7th - Textiles Group
Friday 8th - Ceramics Group
Saturday 9th  - Sculpture Group
Sunday 10th Glass Group

HVA members do pop in and introduce yourselves !

Come see how an ancient art-form has become a new one - Painting with threads! Stephanie Edwards will be demonstrating the Art of tapestry weaving.  Connie  Flynn will be demonstrating colourful handmade felt beads which she will decorate with hand embroidery. She will be displaying a range of sculptural 3D felt work of different sizes. June Faulkner will be sharing her passion for silk painting, and invites you to ‘have a go’.  Caroline Lumb will be exploring and sharing ideas for fabric manipulation inspired by historical costume.  From fibre to fabric! Barbara Weeks will be sharing the magical properties of wool.
Demonstrating their skills and exhibiting their beautiful work will be HVA members Ruta Bartkeviciute, Susan Eglinton, Hannah Getley, Patrick Joyce, Nicholas Howard and Jane Sleator.  It looks to be a great day with plenty of opportunities to get inspired, watch demonstrations, make new contacts and show your support for local artists.
On Saturday five of Hertfordshire’s talented Sculptors will be displaying classical and contemporary figurative work whilst demonstrating techniques in clay, plaster and frame construction.
Come and meet the artists: Heather Burwell, Dawn Dominic, Kathy Prest, Teddy Shattock and Maria-Luisa Wilkings.  They just love to talk about their art and how they achieve their special creations. Most items will be for sale, and commission enquiries are very welcomed.
On Sunday glass artists will fill the HVA tent with unique designs, diverse art forms, demonstrations, and the chance to make some glass art of your own!! Come and join us, and discover five amazing artists using the medium of glass in five entirely different ways. Opal Seabrook uses hand cutting, leading and soldering techniques, hardly changed since the 12th century, alongside unique modern designs to create stained and fusion glass art and jewellery. Sharon Korek recently set up her workshop in Hitchin and works with kiln formed and casting glass to create pieces inspired by nature, fossils and the sea. Jenny Hoole designs and makes individual, affordable fused glass dishes, jewellery, coasters, studio glass and wall art. Howard Wright uses a variety of techniques to create unique and personalised art from glass. By combining frits, foils, metals and broken glass, Anne Keegan aims to create visually interesting and unusual fused glass pieces that can be displayed as panels or slumped to create useable glassware. Our glass artists will be demonstrating their individual techniques during the day, and there will be the opportunity to have a go!

Also, do look out for HVA member Anna Pye, the printmaker in the the Craft and Design Magazine’s marquee !
