In the press ....

HVA Member Jackie Grisley SWA was recently approached by Vincent Miller, publisher of INTERNATIONAL ARTIST magazine to do a 10 page article with pictures and a demonstration on how she creates her art.
It has now been published and the full feature can be seen in Issue 78 April/May 2011

Here is an excerpt from the feature ...

'Light Hits the Headland'

By JACKIE GRISLEY SWA – coastal watercolour painter
My inspiration is sparked by the coastal and mountain skies of Great Britain. I’m in awe of the drama and boldness of the inarguable force of Mother Nature at her best in a raging storm; dark clouds full and bursting with rain, or a myriad of colours glowing in a wondrous sunset sends shivers up my spine.

'Blustery Sky Over St Mary's Lighthouse'

I try to capture moments when the light breaks through a clouded, stormy sky, striking targets on the edge of land – lighthouses, crofter’s cottages or as the light hits the sea. I want my paintings to convey the power and drama of nature’s spectacular performances in a given moment.

Atmosphere, drama and light are my goals in every painting. Watercolour for me is the ideal medium for achieving this. It lends itself perfectly to capturing light effects and reflections on water.

'The Corn Exchange'

In the local press,

a painting 'The Corn Exchange' by Nick Harrison Jones was featured in an article in The Comet, about the 30th Art Show at Kimpton Parish Chuch which took place over the last Bank Holiday Weekend.
