Welcome to the March 2016 edition of the Herts Visual Arts Newsletter. Applications are now being taken for Herts Open Studios 2016 - make sure yours is uploaded before the 31 March deadline. This month we expand our team with Lucinda Rowe, our new Open Studios Project Manager, and Kelly Pedlar, Marketing Co-ordinator, and new OG Members Sharon Korek and Joanne Eve.
In response to the Strategic review which was presented at the end of January 2016, with a new Marketing Co-ordinator in place, we are excited to be planning lots of new improvements across the HVA website.
Open Studios is open to professional and amateur visual artists, craft makers and designers living or working in Hertfordshire. The cost to participate is just £99 for Herts Visual Arts members, which includes an entry in the 25,000 colour brochures freely distributed across Hertfordshire. For artists this is a fantastic price and opportunity to take part in the 3 week long event which will be publicised on social media, radio and in the press. So if holding an Open Studio has been on your list for a while, this year is the year to make it happen!

This month we explore that very human desire to to take a peek behind the scenes. Be it a film, event or much loved personality, curiosity leads us to crave the the interview, hungrily devour candid photos or, just like the bonus footage on a DVD, glimpse behind the camera. Taking part in the annual Herts Open Studios really does offer the public the chance to go behind the scenes into the mysterious world of the artist.
