Try being an entrepreneur with Y.ART and culture, make a gallery, raise funding, create and or choose art for the Y.ART gallery, do some negotiating  for workshops in drawing, painting, sculpture, glass painting, papier-mâché, printmaking, needle felting, model making, fashion design, etching, film making, animation, character development, mask making, puppet making, writing.
See how you can influence the Y.ART space.  If you are serious about being part of Y.ART you will have to get on with the boring stuff as well as the interesting. This is REAL life – we may make mistakes, but learn and get over it!

OUTDOOR SCULPTURE GALLERY

Lucy Godfrey, Festival Manager for St. Albans City & District Council, has approached Herts Visual Arts regarding an Outdoor Sculpture Gallery as part of the festival launch.  The one day event, taking place on Saturday 18th June in Verulamium Park will be open to the public at 1pm and finish about 8pm.  It will be a day full of live performances, music, theatre and dance, alongside lots of activities for all the family, arts and crafts, workshops etc.  The festival runs to 3 July.

WORKSHOPS AT LUTON HOO

Many of you will be aware that Luton Hoo Walled Garden (LHWG) is having their  2nd Open Art Exhibition in March to launch an Arts Programme for 2011.
Karole Lange, the Arts Co-ordinator at LHWG would like to offer those artists who run workshops locally or would like to offer a workshop locally, the opportunity to demonstrate during the Exhibition (either in the Visitors Centre or The Conservatory) on the weekend of the open Arts Exhibition -  Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, with sessions running from 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm.  If you are interested do contact

MILL GREEN MUSEUM

Jenny Oxley, Curator at Mill Green Museum and Welwyn Roman Baths is currently looking for local artists and art groups to exhibit in one of the galleries at the museum from June 2011.  The museum and mill from the 1st April will be open daily Tuesday-Thursday 10am-5pm and Sundays and Bank Holidays 2-5pm, admission £2.50 for adults (children free).  They currently receive approx 20,000 visitors a year.  
 
The terms and conditions of hire would be:
 
1.   Where possible exhibitors will be from the Welwyn Hatfield District
2.   Exhibits will not be insured by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.  All exhibits are therefore displayed at their owner’s risk.  It is recommended that the exhibitor takes out their own insurance.
3.   Exhibitors will deliver and remove their own work from the museum on the agreed dates.
4.   The exhibitor will provide a price list, artist biography and any other text required for the exhibition to the Curator a week before the exhibition is installed and is subject to their approval.
5.   The dates of the exhibition will be agreed in writing in advance of the exhibition.  
6.   The exhibitor may at their own cost, have an opening event, the date and time of which will be agreed when confirming the exhibition slot.  For evening exhibition launches a further charge will apply.   
7.   All pictures will be hung with mirror plates and screwed to the wall.
8.   The gallery hire fee for exhibiting works in gallery 1 is £50 per 4 week exhibition slot and 25% commission will be charged on all sales.

OBSIDIAN ART

Obsidian Art, based in Stoke Mandeville, are currently inviting entries for “An English Country Garden”.  A themed exhibition of selected fine and applied art inspired by everything found in the garden.  Deadline: 4 March.

QUEENS ROAD SUMMER MARKET

Call for local budding entrepreneurs, charities, craftspeople, students and artists.  Stalls are being offered at the market at very reasonable rates.

As an initiative to attract new customers we are introducing a new and exciting community summer market which opens on Queens Road, Watford on Saturday 28 May 2011 from 10.00am- 4.00pm.  
The market will be held every other Saturday until 17th September 2011.  It will provide visitors with a choice of wares ranging from hand made jewellery to handbags, vintage, fashion, bric-a-brac, home-made cakes, and much more!  There will also be live street performances and some delicious hot food.

POP-UP ART MARKET 30th MAY 2011 AT HATFIELD HOUSE

I Have Made will present a one-day pop-up Art Market on the 30th May 2011 (bank holiday Monday) 10.00am to 5.30pm, at Hatfield House.

The curated Art Market, which is open to all disciplines, will put the emphasis on you, the individual artist, to not only consider your choice of work, but to consider the context of the space when choosing how
