Already almost halfway through 2017, we have had an incredibly busy half-year so far: from our buzzing January members’ workshop through to the Creative Expo on June 1st. In between there was our new-format round-up Spring newsletter, a new format HVA tri-fold promotional leaflet, Open Studios registrations, our amazing members-only Spring Exhibition at the New Maynard Gallery, and the Herts Show. Not to mention all the individual members events and exhibitions that have featured on our web site or on facebook. Looking forward, we have our AGM, Social Media Workshop and Herts Affordable Art Fair, and that’s before we begin the countdown to Open Studios 2017 in September.
Open Studios 2017, 9th September to 1st October
We’ve had great response for Open Studios this year, with a larger proportion of artists taking part in groups. With the first round of content proofing now complete, information has gone to our brochure designer. It you are taking part this year, please watch out for the second/final proof reading round later in June.
You may have already seen our OS2017 poster. The new-format A5 Open Studios brochure, planned to be ready in time for our Herts Affordable Art Fair at the end of July, will ensure a big splash early in our OS calendar. Promotion for Open Studios is well underway. Hints and tips will also be covered in our Social Media workshop that will take place with our AGM in early July.
New Maynard Galley
About 50 artists contributed to our amazing Spring Exhibition at the New Maynard Gallery in Welwyn Garden City. The gallery trustees have been hugely complimentary about the range and quality of work on display and have asked us back for 2018. If you’ve not had a chance to see it yet, there are still a few days left – the final day to view will be Saturday 3rd June. A huge thank-you to all the artists who brought such life and skill together.
AGM 2017/Social Media Workshop
Details our special members-only early July Social Media Workshop event to accompany our 2017 AGM/annual review are due out shortly. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are effective tools stay in touch, connect with opportunities and promote your art/business. With a range of options and information from getting on-line to specific event promotion (including Open Studios), there will be something for everyone beginner to advanced.
Watch out for our separate Workshop/AGM announcement – just bring a smart phone, tablet or laptop and be ready to join in.
The weather held up its part of the bargain and we had lots of visitors to our HVAF table at the Herts Show (Made in Herts Marquee) – plenty of interest for Open Studios and also our next public event the Herts Affordable Art Fair in Hitchin at the end of July. Thanks also to Creative Hertfordshire who took some of out leaflets to hand out to artists that visited them. The three HVA artists in Made in Herts were Sandra Berti, Beverley Sweetman and Hillary Taylor, and we all had a great weekend.
The next public presence for HVAF is at the Creative Expo in Hatfield on 1st June. It promises to be a very interesting event, with exhibitions, seminars and more.
Herts Affordable Art Fair
Many of you will remember that spaces at our Herts Affordable Art Fair in Hitchin (29th/30th July) were snapped up within hours of the announcement. First HAAF promotional leaflets have arrived and rather a lot were snapped up at the Herts Show. It promises to be an amazing weekend, and huge thanks to the team of volunteers who are working hard to make it possible.
