DRAW 11

The Society of Graphic Fine Art invites submissions for DRAW 11 – the 90th Annual Open Exhibition at the Menier Gallery, London, 3 – 15 October 2011
The Society of Graphic Fine Art exists to promote fine drawing skills whether with brush, pen, charcoal, conté or any of the forms of original printmaking.

Oil paintings, ‘pure’ watercolours with no additional drawing, reproductions, laser copies and computer-generated images are inadmissible. Whilst black and white work and traditional skills are still a priority, in recent times a more progressive outlook has encouraged the use of colour and non-figurative work, with drawing excellence being the main criteria of selection in all media disciplines.
Prizes are awarded in categories for the best:
·  Drawing
·  Drawing in colour
·  Print
·  Work in monochrome
·  Work on this year’s theme, and
·  The President’s choice
The Optional theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘GRAFFITI’. The word ‘graffiti’ derives from the Greek word graphein, meaning to write. This is the same root of course as Graphic, as in Graphic Art which in the broadest sense apples to art that is predominantly linear in effect.
Entry Forms and a Submission Information Sheet are available to download from the SGFA website www.sgfa.org.uk.
The closing date for receipt of entry forms is Saturday 20th August 2011.
