Renewal invoices for the membership year 2011/2012 have now been issued – just a reminder that the preferred method of payment is via the website (either by Paypal or Credit Card) – this will greatly reduce the admin burden on our volunteers !

In this issue, links to application forms are now available for Open Studios, and an exciting opportunity for members to exhibit at the Hertford Theatre in May, in addition to our regular features.

Our Quarterly Meetings are held at the University of Hertfordshire, UH College Lane Campus, Lindop Building—Room A161, Hatfield.

Free to HVAF members. Guests £3 payable at the door. See details of our February and April Meetings below.

Open Studios 2011 (10 Sept - 2 Oct)

Applications are now invited to become a member of Herts Visual Arts, and participate in the Open Studios project which this year celebrates its 21st anniversary.

The committee have set the entry fee for 2011 at £90 per participant (whether you are entering individually or as a group).  Application forms are now available please click on (a) OS 2011 Form and (b) Guidelines to download.  You will be able to apply on line in a few weeks, further details follow.....

Creative thinking outside the box

HVA artists are challenged to think outside the box for the new show Twelve Inches Square, opening at Hertford Theatre in May.

Website Gallery Support

The next support day for members wishing to load or amend their Gallery Page is now confirmed as Tuesday 22nd February.  Do email Jude Fung support@hvaf.org.uk to book a time-slot.  We have arranged to meet at the Café Gallery at Hertford Theatre, to give members the opportunity to view the space that we will be using for the May Exhibition.

Opportunities

With effect from mid March the opportunities section on the Herts Visual Arts website will only be accessible by MEMBERS, and you will need to login with your username and password to view the page.  If you are having difficulty logging onto the site, or have forgotten your username do email support@hvaf.org.uk .  If you have simply forgotten your password click the link, and enter the email address that is associated with your membership details and you will be sent an email with a new password (this is automatically sent from the web database so do check your SPAM box if you do not receive an email straight away). A good selection of opportunities this month ...

An unlikely pairing

I thought it might be useful and timely to write something about planning and creativity. They make an unlikely pair. To me creativity has a wild, born-free, feline quality about it. Planning has more clean-cut, controlled lines like a Lipizzaner stallion performing classical dressage.
