'THE EMERGENCE OF MY COMBINED SELF'
'My pictures are produced by layering digital photographs and using effects to mould the image further.
I wanted to create something expressive and I found the layering process an effective technique. My aim is to build a narrative between the layered images.
These pictures are part of The Emergence of my Combined Self. The project explores the effects of emotional shock and uses the layering to open the lines of communication between the past and the present, allowing a union to emerge.’ CLARE CLARK

FINDERS KEEPERS - Tales in Textiles !
After completing her Contemporary Textile degree In Shetland last year, HVA member Connie Flynn was artist in residence at Sumburgh Lighthouse, Shetland for the month of June. During the residency she researched the social history aspect of the keepers and their families who stayed, worked and lived at the lighthouse. Connie recorded her findings of quotes and stories in her sketch book, this progressed into constructing textile wall hangings, each one decorated with hand stitched techniques to represent these tales. Now the work is complete, Finders Keepers - Tales in Textiles! will be exhibited in Shetland Museum from 2nd - 28th April 2016.
Connie will be talking about her experiences of studying and living in Shetland at 3pm on Sun 15th May 2016 at Braintree Museum, Essex as part of the Warner Textile Archive's annual Textile Fair.
