Welcome to the April 2015 edition of the Herts Visual Arts Newsletter. A variety of interesting Opportunities have crossed my desk this month, and I thought it would be useful to remind members how to amend the frequency with which they receive our automated email alerts.
The deadline for applications has been extended to Friday 3 April 2015. Participating members will be contacted over the next two weeks to review their data, and give them the opportunity to align their opening hours/days with colleagues in the vicinity. A print proof will be circulated mid-May once the graphic design is complete. In the meantime, some more images of the extensive range of artwork on show this year to whet your appetite...
What's on this Spring ....
Prints by Anna Pye in 'The Artful Hare', HVA Members in both the February & March editions of Hertfordshire Life Magazine. Images from 'Spring Equinox' at the Harrow Arts Centre.... and Old Wives Tales - our April Postcard from Shetland. Also, work by Melodie Cook featured in a new book.
‘I would say I am a Colourist as a way of summing up the work I love to do. I delight in the colours of nature and want to make paintings that are bright and uplifting as there is enough darkness in the world’ said the St Albans artist Gerry Wilmer during our interview this month. I felt honoured to receive such a warm-hearted greeting from Gerry as she showed me into her home and studio.
The Creative Digest is a monthly insight into websites that explore creative practice and the artistic mindset. In April we turn our attention to the studio space, given the large number of members opening their doors for the 25th Herts Open Studios this year.
