Showcase for artists in Broxbourne

BROXBOURNE is the latest borough to promote the work of artists through the empty shop scheme.

Three artists characterised by their rich use of colour are currently exhibiting at The Tower Centre, Hoddesdon, as part of the current incentive to bring life to vacant shops.

Work by Linda Gifford, Moya Evans and Tessa Verrechia will be showing until mid April, including paintings, fused and stained glass and digitally printed interior textiles.

HVAF East Herts Open Studio Co-ordinator Linda Gifford said: “The group were self selected and it is a happy accident that the work goes together so well.”

The display was facilitated by Bernie Shaddock, Community Arts Officer for Broxbourne Council in conjunction with the management of the Tower Centre.

Bernie Shaddock said: “This is the first time we have run the empty shop scheme in Broxbourne. We have several empty shops available if people want to use them. We are getting good feedback about the scheme, and artists are also able to sell their work from there.”

If you are interested in exhibiting in an empty shop please contact Linda Warminger, HVAF Open Studios Co-ordinator for further details.
