Strong, silent, type exhibition

One of our newest members, Liz Purkis, will be showing work from her new series ‘Timekeeping’ at this exhibition’.

Opening on 16 November Strong Silent Type is a group show selected from an open call for wonderfully word-based imagery; slickly typeset or hand-rendered; slogans, quotes, posters and protestations, warnings, words of wisdom, whole alphabets, symbols or a single beautiful letterform.

The exhibition of old and new will include Archie Proudfoot's traditional signwriting techniques, John Bradley's abstracted letterpress collages, an excerpt from Annie Nicholson's Taboo Emotions, a classic calendar design by Jean-Pierre Vitrac and even vintage posters by classic London Transport poster designer McKnight Kauffer and US pop artist and nun Sister Corita Kent.
