My work is a journey. I like the activity of making my artwork and so the process of this journey is as important as the finished piece itself. My day to day life and especially my travels, have always been a source of material. I have visited some exotic and exciting places, both near and far, including Morocco, Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, India and Bali. I take many photos on these journeys which serve as a reminder of the visual excitement I have experienced - a visual memory. It is often the patterns, colour and textures I have noticed and these appear as descriptions of the atmosphere and sights I have seen. My choice of materials is mixed media including collage, simple printing.
Recently, I have returned to (for me) the more figurative genre of still life and flowers as subject matter. I use found objects and artefacts often brought home from my travels which have a personal resonance, and which can help to encompass memories for my paintings.
