Frances studied Batik with Jo Dixon at Sunningwell School of Art and more recently with Jenny O’Leary both in Oxfordshire and from this grew her passion for the medium. She works mainly in contemporary abstract forms or with forms derived from nature. She takes inspiration from the many artists and designers whose work she has taught over many years as an art historian, as well as from exhibitions in various media, and from nature. Her engagement with colour is an integral part of her work.
Working on cotton, Frances produces wall hangings, individual cushion covers and lampshades and other smaller items. She has a particular interest in working on tissue paper, designing mounted works and a wide range of greetings cards.
A member of West Oxfordshire Arts, Hertfordshire Visual Arts and Watford Arts Forum she exhibits mainly in Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.
Frances' degrees are in history and in art history which she taught at an independent school in Northwood, Middlesex for twenty-three years.
