Stylish and rich in colour, occassionally influenced by my love of Art Deco. I have a particular fascination with painting the female form, capturing beauty, innocence, seduction... we all have a story to tell.
I like to search for the freedom moment when we're at our most content and free of inhibition. My work is influenced by my constant curiosity of life and those I meet along the way, my fascination with people and contrast of colour.
Growing up in an environment of art and creativity, I attended life drawing and art classes to hone my skills, but my biggest inspiration and teachers were my parents, both artists, Tom and Jacqueline Durkin, who trained together at Bradford Art College alongside David Hockney. I have also been the subject of many paintings by my father while I was growing up.
Born in the village of Haworth on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, I now work and live in London and St Albans.
