Interconnection of Criminal Records - Second Call for Proposals (UK)
The European Commission has announced a second call for proposals under its 'Action grants- criminal records' programme.
This call aims to promote judicial cooperation with the objective of contributing to the creation of a genuine European area of justice in criminal matters by improving contacts and the exchange of information and best practice between legal, judicial and administrative authorities and the legal professions; fostering the training of the members of the judiciary; and to further improve mutual trust with the view to ensuring protection of rights of victims and of the accused. This call seeks to provide financial support to three types of projects. Projects initiated and managed by the Commission with a European dimension; transnational and national projects implemented by the organisations in the Member States; and activities of non-governmental organisations or other entities pursuing an aim of general European interest (including an operating grant to ! co-finance expenditure associated with the permanent work programme of the European Judicial Training Network). Applications must be submitted by national authorities. Project proposals seeking EU co-funding of less than? 50.000 will not be eligible to receive a grant. There is no maximum limit, but the amount of co-financing requested and its proportionality to the expected results will be assessed as one of the award criteria. The deadline for applications is the 14 November 2008....
