Re:create is Berkhamsted's hidden art centre. Tucked away behind the Town Hall many people don't even know it exists. But every week there are more than a dozen different art activities ranging from ceramics to play reading.

Thanks to a HVAF grant during May, Rose Scarborough, artist and manager, was able to run a series of workshops with 10 to 13 year olds from Thomas Coram and Bridgewater schools. With great imagination and enthusiasm they created five floating sculptures out of recycled materials. These sculptures will be floated on the Grand Union canal in Berkhamsted (the stretch at the bottom of Castle Street) on June 26th at 4.15pm

‘I am blown away by the work the children have produced, they were so passionate and creative, I can't wait to see the pieces float' said Rose.

The project has also been filmed and photographed. Pupils will make these images, along with their own compositions, into a small video instillation from Ashlyns School. This will be shown at Re:create as part of their Open Studios Exhibition.

They are open Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September.

With both the floating and the exhibition many more people are set to find out about Re:create and HVAF.
