My inspiration comes from the minutiae of life: familiar everyday objects and spaces that are often overlooked. The appearance of objects, often worn or weathered, provides parallels for our own ageing process, and offers a myriad of possibilities for creating images.

I produce figurative and semi-abstract oil paintings based on individual objects such as old shoes, books, chairs, fences and plastic bags and bottles. I aim to convey the identity and transience of even the most humble of objects and the space it occupies.

The experimental and accidental are important factors in my work. I continue to be fascinated by the physicality of paint and its relationship with the image.
