Jan Reichmann
I graduated as a mature student with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree from the University of Hertfordshire in 2007. I work mostly as an abstract artist, my inspiration being land and seascapes, both of which enable me to embrace my love of colour and mark making. My fascination lies in the colour and shape of what I see in front of me, together with the texture of visual surfaces, which I then freely interpret into colourful, visceral statements.
I also have a love of life drawing and portraiture, disciplines which I feel balance my work with abstract landscapes - the contours of both face and figure being equally challenging and exciting.
Printmaking - monoprints in particular - is another facet of my work, and digital photography is increasingly a new influence.
