Stolen Form
Christian Marsden creates conceptual art, paintings and products that explores the relationship between the urban environment and modern society.
This interest in the urban lifestyle is clearly evident in his work. Seeing his work as falling somewhere between Banksy's urban subversion and Duchamp’s interest in the mass produced object, Marsden takes everyday representations of the city landscape, and casts them for the purpose of display, creating a visual representation of both the problems and the beauty of life in 21st century Britain.
" I think objects can be symbolic and important, an object can express a certain amount of identity to me, they can translate different messages and they hold strong links to social groupings. I choose objects that have intrinsic meaning to broader issues or a bigger picture.
