Paul Gale
Reflective Statement
‘My practice explores deterioration and decay in all forms of nature and the world around us. More recently this has become more specific and has concentrated in looking at how this affects human mental behaviour.
Inspiration has come from the writings of Oliver Sacks, a prominent neurologist, through visiting the recent Welcome Institute exhibition exploring identity, and from examining a variety of media articles and images.
The aim of my work is to produce an alternative visual narrative concerned with imagining interpretations of complex neurological dysfunctions and disorders of the brain and mind.
Most recently I have produced a series of etchings using a carefully chosen ink colour and type of paper, in a personal attempt to illustrate these imaginings’.
