A Warm Welcome to Open Studios 08
... the eighteenth year of this exciting event. Between 13th September and 5th October artists and craftspeople throughout the county are opening the doors of their homes and studios to visitors. Entry to all the venues is free - and there is no obligation to buy. Come along and take the opportunity to meet the artists, talk to them, see them at work, and see for yourselves the creativity going on throughout Hertfordshire.
The range of work is broad and diverse - and includes painting, sculpture, installation, ceramics, textiles, glass, jewellery, photography, film, video. In addition there are exhibitions running alongside Open Studios, and details of some of these can be found here.
Using this guide
Many people use this web-based guide to plan a `trail´ - visiting several open studios in the same area. The map shows roughly the locations of all the venues, and will help you plan your trail. The colour of the number indicates in which area of the county they are showing.
Thank you ...
Once again, this year we have had support from the National Lottery through Arts Council England. This has been used to fund innovative Open Studio in the Community projects which have been taking place countywide throughout the year, with the aim of bringing artists and the public closer together, and at the same creating further awareness of the main Open Studios event.
And a big thank you to everyone who has helped to put the show on the road - the area councils who have supported us with funding, advertisers, artists and volunteers who all make valuable contributions to the success of the event.
