Kimpton Art Show, 3-5 May 2014

Each year, the Kimpton Art Show brings together 150 artists exhibiting oils, watercolours, acrylic, photography and mixed media.  The Show offers an opportunity for new artists to test their talent as well as for those who already have a well-established reputation to make a very valued return.  Last year, we were delighted to include a number of new artists who have exhibited with Herts Open Studios.

We also welcomed artists in Other Media with their high quality displays of glassware, stained glass, clay, sculpture, original ceramics, turned wood and textiles.  The art is displayed in the spacious and gracious ambience of the 12th century parish church.  At various times during the weekend, local musicians will be playing informally, thus adding a very living experience to the occasion.

The opening night is Friday 2nd May from 6pm to 9pm.  Admission is £5.00, payable at the door, and includes a complimentary glass of wine.  Admission on Saturday, Sunday and Monday is £1 with children free. Opening times:

Sat 3rd May – 11.00 to 6.00
Sun 4th May - 12 noon to 5.30
Mon 5th May - 11.00 to 2.00

Kimpton Art Show, along with the May Festival itself, was set up to provide funds for the restoration of the church, following the collapse of the Dacre Chapel roof.  The roof has long since been re-built but, although much restoration has taken place, an ongoing programme is necessary in order to preserve the village’s most historic building for future generations.  Today proceeds from entry fees, sales commissions and sponsors also go to support the village hall and other local charities.

Artists interested in exhibiting should apply between 1 March and 11 April.  Details are on our website at www.kimptonartshow.co.uk
