'Jessica Martin's Picture Palace'

Jessica Martin's first solo exhibition will take place in the Apthorp Gallery at The Radlett Centre from 2-31 March 2015 with a private viewing night on 12 March from 7.30.  "Jessica Martin's Picture Palace" is a celebration of the golden age of Hollywood.

There will be a collection of limited edition digital canvas portraits of stars from the age of glamour and also samples of Jessica's comic ink work.

Jessica is based in Watford and has been in showbusiness for most of her life as an impressionist and leading lady in musical theatre. She did "A" level art but hadn't drawn anything since until a few years ago when she took up sketchbook journalling. She started making comics three years ago and is now a well known name on the comics scene.

Her genre is film history and stars. "it Girl" about Clara Bow and "Vivacity" about Vivien Leigh were both selected as one of "Ten Must Own Comics" of 2013 and 2014 by comics website Broken Frontier.  She is working on her first graphic novel "Elsie Harris Picture Palace" set in the 1930's film industry. It was shortlisted for the First Graphic Fiction Prize by Myriad Editions 2014 and is published by Miwk Publications this summer.
