Arts Butanica, 30 Oct - 6 Nov 2013

Luton Hoo Walled Garden in Conjunction with the Society of Botanical Artists are pleased to announce Arts Butanica an exhibition of Botanical Art by members and associates of The Society of Botanical Artists.

The Society of Botanical artists is regarded as the leading Society of its kind with an international reputation and many of its members hold RHS gold medals.  
The exhibition celebrates the Tercentenary of Lord Bute the founder of the Walled Garden and first Director of Kew Gardens.  Lord Bute was an avid collector and patron of botanical art in his day and featured in the exhibition will be illustrations by current SBA artists illustrating plants from Bute’s comprehensive plant list from the archives.

There will also be a talk on Friday November 1st by Maureen Lazarus of Cardiff Museum an authority on `The Bute Botanical Tables’ a comprehensive work commissioned by Bute and illustrated by the top botanical artists of his time.

The exhibition will include painting, jewellery. artists prints and cards and be a recently published book on Bute and the garden will be on sale.
