Linda Di Mizio
My work covers a wide range of subject matter, with structure and pattern being a dominant connecting theme. Inspiration mostly comes from the natural world, sometimes in the interplay between nature and man made forms. Paintings are frequently figurative in style, exploring realism in detail and sometimes more abstract, where pattern, movement or mood predominate.
This painting recalls for me a bright June morning full of the scent of grass and everything buzzing with life.
What I wanted was a riot of blooms. The flowers were all growing in my garden and I wanted to bring some of them indoors permanently. The style is much influenced by that of 17th century Dutch paintings and by tapestries.
This painting attempts to reflect the feeling of walking through trees, and particularly the way that they seem to loom up at you on misty days in winter.
