Jan Elliott

I trained in Bristol and have practised in a number of visual disciplines, including graphic design, fashion and fine art. In addition, I have taught drawing, painting and sculpture for ten years. I believe that image-making is fundamental to human existence and engaging in this process helps us to reflect on and interpret the world around us. The insights gained through making and considering images develop our sense of personal identity and illuminate our understanding of ourselves and others. My current series of work responds to transient light effects in the landscape; I am particularly fascinated by the ever-changing patterns and colours to be found in cloud formations and the considerable influence they have on pictorial atmosphere.
