For the past 12 years I've been working as a freelance graphic designer and loved creating for other people, but recently I've decided to start creating more tangible products for sale rather than working on client based projects.
A throwback to my youth has given me a new love in my life - Macramé. I gave it a try one day in September 2017 to see if I could still remember how to do it (it'd been over 30 yrs since the last time!) and I could. Since then I've been a little bit obsessed - if it can be made with a knot or several hundred, it can be a product to sell. My range so far included, wall-hangings, hanging pot plant holders, jewellery, handbags, coasters, Christmas decorations and various other little bits and pieces. I'd really like to pursue this further with commissions for larger wall hangings and the like. All my macrame work is in my Etsy shop ColourMyDreamsUK.
My graphic design work is still in the background, I have several loyal clients who I love working with and will continue to do so until they no longer need me. Alongside this work, I create digital illustrations and patterns for use as surface design on products. I have a range of homewares with my patterns and sell these via my website - www.colourmydreams.co.uk. You'll also find some of my products in White Mint, Berkhamsted (opposite the Rex Cinema).
Originally from Australia, Britain has been my home for over 27 years, Berkhamsted for 23. I have two children, both studying in the creative industries - my son is doing Media Studies and my daughter a dance degree. I love coffee, wine, theatre and things that make me laugh. I'm happy when I'm creating something, I never get bored and always try to look at a glass as half full.
I hope you like my work - feel free to ask any questions, enquire about a commission or pick my brains about how to do what I do. Always happy to share ideas and add what I can to someone else's creative journey.
